Privacy Policy

Account details you provide (name, email, membership), payment records held by our payment processor (we never store card numbers), the credit line and credit choice a Premium member sets, event ticket claims, and correspondence you send us. The site loads no analytics script. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of requests to the site, such as the IP address, the page requested and the time.

Operating your membership: authentication, billing, delivering the research letter and member communications, recording event ticket claims, and crediting Premium members. A Premium member is credited only by the credit line they choose and only after turning credit on, which is off until they do and can be turned off at any time. Server logs are used to keep the site running and secure.

We do not sell member data. We do not run advertising or share data with advertisers. We do not use third-party tracking pixels. Member lists are never disclosed; Premium credits name only the members who have turned credit on.

Our membership platform (authentication, billing, and email delivery), our payment processor, and our hosting provider each process data strictly to provide the service. Each is bound by its own published privacy terms; a current list of processors is available on request.

The member portal carries a curated feed of posts from the researchers' accounts on X. The Association's servers collect those posts from X, and they collect public posts only. The Association sends X no member data: no member's name, email address, membership or use of the portal goes to X. The feed shows profile pictures and media previews that your browser loads from X's image servers, and its reply, repost and like links open X. When your browser loads one of those images or you open X, X receives the ordinary details of that request, such as your IP address, under X's own privacy policy. The feed loads no script from X.

You can access, correct, or delete your account data, export your data, turn Premium credit off, and unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time. Write to members@catastrophism.org and we will act within 30 days.

Membership records are kept while your membership is active and for the period required for tax and accounting. Access to member data is limited to the Founders and the processors above, over encrypted connections.
