What am I buying during the pre-sale?
A capped founding seat. Founding Charter ($750 one-time, 100 total) and Founding Member ($200/year, 200 total) are the only tiers sold before public launch. You get founding standing, the founding Signal channel, and bi-weekly founder notes immediately; the research letter and the methodology standards follow; the full member portal opens at public launch, with founding members entering ahead of the public. Once the founding caps fill, no additional founding seats will ever be created.
When does the full platform open?
The date is not yet set, and we will not publish one until we are certain of it. Public launch is when Standard and Organization membership open and the member portal, research archive, and live instrument dashboard go live; founding members enter ahead of the public. Everyone holding a founding reservation is told the date before it is announced publicly. We would rather tell you late than tell you wrong, which is the same standard we hold the research to.
What is the Association, legally?
Catastrophism Research Association LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, with a 501(c)(3) foundation arm in formation for research grants and tax-deductible giving. Until the IRS determination lands, donations are not tax-deductible and are sequestered for Foundation use upon approval.
Is this a subscription to content?
No. Members purchase membership in a research community: original research published under documented methodological standards, the data and code behind it, direct interaction with the researchers, and the functions of peer review, grants, and convenings that a content subscription cannot offer.
What is your refund policy?
Founding tiers carry a 14-day full-refund window from purchase, without condition. Annual plans are refundable pro-rata within the first 30 days. Monthly plans cancel any time and simply do not renew. Write to members@catastrophism.org.
What happens if a founding contributor leaves?
The Association is built to outlast any individual roster. The methodology standards, the archive, and the institutional functions are Association property and continue regardless. Member terms never change retroactively.
Do you accept advertising or sponsorship?
No advertising, ever. Sponsored research is accepted only when clearly disclosed and conducted under the Association's methodological standards, not the sponsor's.
